Faraja Rwanda is proud to implement the Creating 500 Green Jobs for Youth and Women project along the scenic shores of Lake Muhazi in Rwanda's Eastern Province. This impactful initiative focuses on empowering youth and women through sustainable livelihoods by promoting environmental conservation and agribusiness development.

By planting fruit trees and fostering eco-friendly practices, the project not only addresses pressing socio-economic challenges but also contributes to Rwanda's broader green growth agenda.

Project Objectives

The project aims to:

  • Create sustainable employment: Generate 500 green jobs for youth and women in the communities surrounding Lake Muhazi.
  • Promote environmental conservation: Increase tree cover along Lake Muhazi's shores to prevent soil erosion and enhance biodiversity.
  • Support agribusiness development: Equip participants with the skills and resources needed to establish and sustain fruit tree farms.
  • Foster financial independence: Provide linkages to finance and markets, empowering participants to thrive in agribusiness.

Sensitization Campaigns

Provision of Seedlings

Distributing high-quality, drought-resistant fruit tree seedlings

Establishing irrigation systems for consistent water supply

Hands-on training in tree planting and agroforestry practices
